Design guidelines

These guidelines are intended to help the designers and the prepress department to improve the printability and performance of the Stafix® material. Please review these instructions in order to achieve the desired results.

MATERIAL SIZE AND PRINTABLE AREA

Please confirm the size of the artwork and the material before you start designing the layout. The bleeds should be 3-5 mm over the clean-cut sheet size.

  • For the sheets size 707x1000mm, the maximum printable is area 700x1000mm.
  • The rolls maximum printing width is 700mm. (The film is 700mm wide)

INK USAGE

Avoid Total Ink Coverage (TIC) greater than 240%. Use Under Color Removal (UCR) and Grey Component Replacement (GCR) when possible. Heavy deposits of ink should be avoided, especially near the edges of the artwork, to prevent the film from curling or rippling. Leave an unprinted border at the edges of the artwork if possible.
Try to avoid overlapping a combination of two or more solid colors. Heavy layers of ink may cause the film to swell.

Stafix®DIGITAL UV-INKJET adheres on the unprinted side only, if you want to display an image through a glass window from the inside it is recommended you print on the clear material mirror-wise.

PICTURES AND TEXT FONT

Please consult your printing house what is the smallest recommended line weight and the minimum font point size for one color and negative text.

Make sure that black text consists of only 100% black for better registration.

STAFIX® CLEAR

When designing artwork that will be printed on Stafix® clear, create a separate file for the covering white. The ink coverage for the white color should not exceed 95%.

If the artwork printed on the clear material would be displayed on a glass surface from the inside, you can print the image mirror-wise and apply the covering white on top.

FINISHING POSSIBILITIES

Stafix® can be die-cut and kiss-cut. Please avoid long thin shapes as they might curl away from the surface and try to round the inner corners because the inner-sharp corners might cause the film to tear. Perforating, binding and direct mail inserting is also possible. Please consult your printing house for finishing possibilities.
