Stafix adopts a Gorilla

Many people often ask us: "What's up with the Gorilla?".

In fact the Gorilla has been our mascot since the very beginning. Some of the first samples we printed had a cartoon on it that was playing with the words "guerilla / gorilla marketing". And at the first trade fair we attended we had hired a "gorilla" that was posting Stafix® stickers wildly all around the trade fair - again we asked ourselves: now is this gorilla or guerilla marketing?

Ever since then the Gorilla could be found on our sample folder, our website, samples, even in our office…

After 4 years of faithful mascot-ship we thought we should give something back to this amazing creature. And since sending bananas to Central Africa did not seem as such a bright idea we thought maybe adopting a gorilla could be a possibility.

Thanks to the species adoption program at the WWF this task was easier than we thought and hence we are now proud parents of a great ape.

The great apes belong to the taxonomic family Homindae, which includes chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans, gorillas and humans. This group includes our closest wild relatives. In fact, all members of this family share possibly more than 97% of their DNA. The great apes have all been documented using tools, and communicating with amazing complexity. The great apes are found primarily in Central Africa with the exception of orangutans, which are native to the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in Asia. All of the great apes face serious threats and are all endangered, some critically endangered. Habitat loss, climate change, infectious disease and illegal hunting for both meat and the live pet trade have combined to push these species to the brink of extinction.
