Stafix announces winners of Facebook competition

In May 2011 we adopted a Gorilla via the WWF species adoption program. The Gorilla has been our mascot since the very beginning. It had its origin in the play with words "guerilla / gorilla marketing" which then continued in 2007 when we were attending the Finngraf and hired a "gorilla" that was posting Stafix® stickers wildly all around the trade fair. Last May we then decided to pay our toll to the creature by supporting the WWF species adoption program.

The “Name Competition”
Of course a proper mascot needs a name and therefore we started a “name competition” among our Newsletter Subscribers as well as Facebook and Twitter Followers. The name competition was running on the our Facebook Fanpage from June to September. Everybody could enter the competition by suggesting a name for the Gorilla mascot and/or vote for an already suggested name. The name with the most votes by the end of September would then be the name of the Stafix® Gorilla.

Gorilla Marketing
After nearly 4 months, 59 suggestions and a total of over 100 votes the Stafix® mascot finally had its name. The name "Staforilla" - a combination of Stafix and Gorilla - suggested by Efrain De la Torre has been the most voted name with a total of 35 votes. On the second and third place came the names "Gorix" and "Samipekka" with 11 votes each. The gorilla mascot plays a big part in the marketing mix of the company’s core product Stafix®. It appears on the sample folder, several samples, the product brochure as well as on the website of the company and has earned a lot of sympathy.

The lucky winners...
Of course where there is a competition there is also a prize. The first prize went to Efrain De la Torre since he was the one who had suggested the name which got the most votes and therefore was the lucky winner of an iPod Shuffle and a plush gorilla. The second prize, another iPod Shuffle, went to Graeme Cartmell from Jyväskylä. The Staforilla himself took care of picking a random name out of the pot.
